The International Cricket Council today wrote to the Pakistan Cricket Board to inform it that fast bowler Shabbir Ahmed has been suspended from bowling in international cricket until such time as he has submitted to a fresh independent analysis.
In line with the regulations for the review of bowlers reported with suspected illegal bowling actions, Mr Ahmed has been suspended after independent analysis of his action found that he exceeds the 15º level of tolerance permitted in the ICC regulations.
The examination was undertaken in the UK with the biomechanical assessment performed by Dr Paul Hurrion at the Sports Science Department of University College Chichester on Friday 10 June 2005.
Full details of the Procedure for the Review of Bowlers with Suspect Bowling Actions are available in the rules and regulations section of the ICC website, www.icc-cricket.com.
