Followers of England on the outright series win index will point out that the Three Lions have won their last two domestic one-day series, against the West Indies and South Africa. Spread punters looking to sell Australia's series supremacy with Sporting Index will also be aware that England have won their last two series to nil, against South Africa and New Zealand.

Since 1972 England have faced the Baggy Greens on 36 occasions in the 50-over format, winning 16, losing 17 and drawing twice (with one no result).

England averaged a total of 224 runs in the previous three ODI's on English shores against Australia, but those that have bought England's outright series win index spread will hope the Ashes holders can exploit the uplifting mood and build on their fantastic Oval victory.

Buyers of Australia's win index spread only need to remember back to 2005 for a series victory here, although they would be forgiven if it was usurped in their memories by the main event. The Aussies won the short one-day series 2-1, before their memorable Test defeat.

Sporting Index offer an interesting 300-up spread market for the series, with every run over 300 in a single innings for either team contributing to the final spread make-up. Sellers will be have noted that the last time either of these two sides scored over 300 runs was in 1980, after Graham Gooch hit a scintillating opening century.

England will dearly miss crocked hero Andrew Flintoff for the one-day fixtures but it will offer a chance for one of England's young guns to stake a claim for his vacant place. England should see the likes of Luke Wright, Owais Shah and Sidebottom come into contention while the Aussies will be boosted by the return of Brett Lee. Along with buyers of his individual performance spread Australian fans will expect him to play a pivotal part in the seven-match series.

Buyers of any of Paul Collingwood's match performance spreads will be confident he can continue his decent one-day form. He has played 145 innings and has a batting average of 34.68, with a high score of 120 not out. A repeat will please any buyers of the total batsmen 50-ups spread.

Jimmy Anderson has taken the most ODI wickets among current players after Flintoff, with a total of 54 and an average of 25.48, although sellers of his performance spread will point out his quiet end to the Ashes.

Fifth Test Man of the Match Stuart Broad may also be a key figure in the series and spread buyers will be hoping he can deliver again to boost his match performance spread make-ups. Broad has played 49 ODIs for England and taken 76 wickets.
