New South Wales held Queensland to 6 for 282 from 97 overs on the opening day of their Pura Cup match at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Clinton Perren and Chris Simpson gave Queensland a solid start, putting on 71 for the first wicket. However, the going was not easy and batsmen made starts but could not go on to the three-figure mark. Simpson topscored with 71 while Martin Love and Aaron Nye registered half-centuries. Nathan Bracken, with 3 for 42 was the most successful bowler.
