SLC security team visits Bangladesh

Sri Lanka Cricket's two-member security committee has arrived in Dhaka on Sunday, a day earlier than scheduled, to inspect the venues for the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka. According to sources in the Bangladesh Cricket Board, former SLC CEO Ajit Jayasekara and vice-president Mohan de Silva will be visiting the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong and the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka over the next two days.
Sylhet, the original venue for the first ODI on February 17, is not in their schedule, which effectively rules out the northeastern town's debut as an international venue.
The inspection is the final hurdle for the tour, after the violence due to the political situation in Bangladesh raised questions about it. SLC president Jayantha Dharmadasa said earlier this week that they would heed the inspection team's recommendations before giving the green signal.
This followed the BCB's announcement earlier the same day that SLC had given them the go-ahead for the tour.
Meanwhile, The Bangladesh Nationalist Party, the country's main opposition party till today, have withdrawn their countrywide blockade after Sunday.
