Somerset announce small pre-tax profit
Somerset County Cricket Club announces a pre-tax profit of £29,737 against a turnover of £2,635,274 for the year ended 30 September 2000
Somerset County Cricket Club announces a pre-tax profit of £29,737 against a turnover of £2,635,274 for the year ended 30 September 2000. Turnover was down by £362,000 on last year.
Attendance at the County Ground was inevitably affected by the unseasonal wet weather and no World Cup Matches which resulted in less home fixtures.
Chief Executive Peter Anderson said, "The 2000 season was a very difficult one from a trading point of view. Whilst the Club did very well to maintain Division One status in both major competitions, wet weather and lack of playing success in the two cup competitions, given our Division One status, and the difficulty in attracting major sponsors, were all major factors. Recording a modest profit in these circumstances is satisfactory."
