After enjoying victory in their opening match of the season Somerset Women's Under-17s side came off second best when they travelled to Sussex last weekend.
Somerset won the toss and put the hosts into bat first, a decision that paid dividends immediately when Colleen Ashby dismissed Sussex opener Charlotte Russell with just one run on the board.
However a second wicket stand of 63 between Laura Marsh and Sophie Hoskins rescued the situation, but from that point the Somerset attack met with success and wickets fell at regular intervals as Sussex were dismissed for 126 in 39 overs.
Lisa Pagett and Colleen Ashbee were the pick of the Somerset bowlers with three wickets each.
After the visitors opening pair of Lisa Pagett and Annie Riccio had put on 13 runs, wickets started to tumble and eventually Somerset were all out for a disappointing 58 in 31.1 overs to give Sussex victory by 68 runs.
