Having restricted Australia to just 222 in their innings in the previous match, South Africa lost just two wickets as Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers saw the tourists to their target with stacks of overs to be bowled.
Australia will want to end the series on something of a high by winning the final match - especially as they go to South Africa next month - but they are in transition and it won't be easy.
Bet365 make Australia 4/7 favourites to win the final match, while South Africa are 5/4. Though the home side have momentum, the visitors clearly have no trouble getting themselves worked up for these matches, even when they have won the series.
For the final match, Ricky Ponting is the favourite to top-score for the home side, at 3/1. Shaun Marsh is 7/2, with Michael Clarke and David Warner both 4/1. Michael Hussey is 9/2, with David Hussey 6/1 and Brad Haddin 10/1.
Jacques Kallis and Herschelle Gibbs top the betting for South Africa at 7/2, while Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers, heroes of the fourth match, are each 4/1. JP Duminy is 9/2 and then there is a big gap to Neil McKenzie at 7/1.
It's always difficult predicting the results of dead rubbers but such is South Africa's hold over Australia right now that when they are odds-against, they simply have to backed.
