The 45-over competition attracted dismal crowds, and the future of the competition was discussed when the franchise CEOs met in Johannesburg. A number of reasons were cited, including the poor timing of the event and the burgeoning popularity of Twenty20 cricket.
"MTN have been doing a lot of research into the matter and this is continuing," Cassim Docrat, the CEO of the KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union, said.
