South Africa have named an unchanged squad for the second and third one-dayers against West Indies. The hosts lead the series 1-0 with the second ODI getting underway on Friday in Newlands.

"Ordinarily we would prefer to have a slightly smaller squad," Joubert Strydom, South Africa's head of selectors, said. "But we have a number of niggles in the squad in addition to [Graeme] Smith's injury and we feel it is prudent to have the additional depth."

Smith injured his knee while fielding in the first ODI, and underwent a scan and a medical assessment on Monday. Encouragingly, he has shown significant improvement and ought to be fit for Friday.

"We were worried about the knee on Sunday night but it was treated aggressively," Shane Jabaar, the South African team physio, told News24.com. "We thought he would need a scan but the knee was so much better on Monday that it was unnecessary. He also received intensive treatment here on Monday."
