South Africa squad for Hong Kong Sixes announced

Gerald Dros to lead South Africa in the Hong Kong Sixes tournament

Gerald Dros has been named as captain for the South African team to take part in the Hong Kong Sixes Tournament on the weekend of November 6-7. He is one of three Nashua Titans players chosen to compete for South Africa, who have won the tournament once in eight attempts.

Dros's team-mate Justin Kemp is the only player in the seven-man squad with Test and ODI experience.

This year's event will form part of Kowloon Cricket Club's centenary celebrations.

South Africa, who were the tournament victors in 1995, has been drawn in Pool 2. They will open their campaign against the UAE, before facing Pakistan and India. Pool 1 comprises defending champions England, Sri Lanka, Kenya and Hong Kong. All pool matches will take place on November 6.

The top two teams in each pool will advance to the cup semi-final stages, while the bottom two will enter the plate play-offs. All group matches will take place on Sunday, November 7.

South Africa has appeared in eight of the nine events to date, winning the tournament in 1995, and losing in the final in 2001. In the 38 matches they have played, they have won 26 and lost 12.
