SPCL2 Week 2 - Lymington all-rounders spark win

Lymington, whose opening match against Purbrook was another weather victim, began their Southern Electric Premier League Division 2 challenge on a positive note, beating recently relegated Burridge by eight wickets.

All-rounders Dan Peacock and Glyn Treagus were the Larks match winners.

The toss proved crucial, with Lymington restricting Burridge to 190-8 and then chasing - and overhauling - a reduced target of 111 with plenty of time to spare.

Burridge, who finished bottom of Premier 1 last summer, thrived on useful top order contributions by Peter Tugwell (46), Paul Friedrich (38) and Ian Williamson (33).

They were seemingly well placed at 120-1, but fell away against the off-spin bowling of Peacock (4-40) and Treagus (2-31), losing six wickets for 36 runs at one stage.

Neil Cunningham's unbeaten 22 and a late biff by Andy Ford lifted Burridge to 190-8.

Lymington, with 29 overs to score 111 runs for victory, thrived on a positive 75-run start by Treagus and Peacock (38).

They lost two wickets in one over to Matt Godwin (2-31), but Treagus, with an undefeated 47, and Ben Craft (19 not out) guided Lymington home by eight wickets with nine overs to spare

Hursley Park celebrated a second consecutive win, chasing a rain-cut Purbrook target of 127 to win by five wickets at The Heath.

South African run getter Will Prozesky hit 60 and Dave Cleeve (37) of Purbrook's 235-9, which was cut to 127 off 27 overs.

Hursley got in with three overs to spare, Raman Prendergast (52) hitting a half-century.

Newly promoted Gosport Borough crashed to a second defeat , losing by 28 runs to United Services at Burnaby Road.

Gary Hounsome (74) and Tom Clark (40) helped US reach 219-9, but even an abridged target of 185 in 42 overs proved 28 runs too many for Gosport, who were dismissed for 156 (Archie Styles 41).
