Spectators to tread the Newlands turf again

The Western Province Cricket Association would like to announce that, for the first time in a number of years, spectators will be allowed onto the field of play during the supper break of the Standard Bank D/N match between MTN Western Province and Border at Newlands Cricket Ground on Friday, 1 December 2000.

The decision to invite spectators onto the field at the break, re-establishes what has become a tradition at Newlands Cricket Ground over the years.

Present Western Province Captain HD Ackerman: "Playing a game with my mates during the breaks on the hallowed turf of Newlands Cricket Ground, gave us the opportunity to emulate our heroes. I'm chuffed that the opportunity has been created."

So, get down to Newlands on Friday to support YOUR team, MTN Western Province!

Tickets for the match are on sale at the Western Province Cricket offices, 161 Campground Road, Newlands or at any Computicket outlet. From 9h00 on Friday they are on sale at the gate.
