Sri Lanka A continued their winning start to their tour of England, easing to a seven-wicket victory over Yorkshire in a rain-delayed one-day match at Headingley. In a game that was reduced to 35 overs per side, Dammika Prasad grabbed three early wickets as Yorkshire slumped to 51 for 5 in juicy conditions, but Phil Jaques ensured a competitive total with 79 from 72 balls, including seven fours and a six.

Jaques added 74 for the sixth wicket with Ismail Dawood, and when they both fell in rapid succession - Dawood to a run-out - Richard Dawson and Chris Silverwood came together in a quick-witted unbeaten partnership of 44. Yorkshire's total of 179 for 7 was not exactly formidable, but considering their early predicament, it was handy enough.

Even so, Yorkshire needed quick wickets if they were to remain competitive, but Saman Jayantha and Avishka Gunawardene stood firm in a 74-run opening stand. Jayantha was eventually caught for 31 by Matthew Wood off Vic Craven, but Ian Daniel joined Gunawardene in another strong partnership.

Both men fell before the job was done - Gunawardene for an excellent 61 - but Sri Lanka's captain Jehan Mubarak sealed the win alongside Thilina Kandamby, with four overs to spare.
