Sri Lanka U/19 captain Angelo Mathews has been ruled out of the remainder of the ICC U/19 Cricket World Cup through injury.
The all-rounder has suffered injuries to his left thigh and lower back and a medical report recommended he take two weeks rest from sporting activities.
The report was submitted to the tournament's Technical Committee by the Sri Lanka team management together with a request to allow a replacement player and that request was granted.
Mathews has been replaced in the Sri Lanka squad by Roshen Silva, who went straight into the side for Thursday's Super League play-off semi-final against Zimbabwe at the Sinhalese Sports Club.
Sameera de Zoysa, the Sri Lanka wicketkeeper, opening batsman and vice-captain took over the captaincy for Thursday's match.
The six-man tournament Technical Committee is made up as follows:
Warren Deutrom (chairman), Chris Nockels (ICC representative), Bandula Warnapura (Host Tournament Director), Anura Tennekoon (Sri Lanka Cricket representative), Richard Done (ICC High Performance Manager and independent nomination) and Graeme Labrooy (also an independent nomination).
