Sri Lanka have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during their nine-wicket win over West Indies in the Super Eights clash at Pallekele on Saturday

Sri Lanka have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during their nine-wicket win over West Indies in the Super Eights clash at Pallekele on Saturday. The penalty comes just hours after England were found guilty of the same offence during their match against New Zealand at the same venue.

The match referee Javagal Srinath found both captains, Mahela Jayawardene (Sri Lanka) and Stuart Broad (England), to be one over short of the target after taking allowances into consideration. The captains were fined 20% of their respective match fees while their team-mates were docked 10% each.
