Ranatunga to prove their worth at WSC

Sri Lanka captain Arjuna Ranatunga said they will prove their worth in the World Series Cup limited over tournament which starts in Adelaide on Friday. Ranatunga said the itinerary does not permit them to adjust themselves from limited over cricket to the established game. But a confident Sri Lankan skipper promised to spring a surprise at the three-nation tournament which will be worked off between Sri Lanka`s second and Third Tests against Australia. Sri Lanka meets the West Indies in the `curtain raiser` under lights at Adelaide.

Jayasuriya in Sri Lanka team ?

All-rounder Sanath Jayasuriya will be included in the Sri Lanka team for their opening World Series Cup match against the West Indies to be played at the Adelaide Oval on Friday, team sources said today. Jayasuriya who did not get a chance to play in the first Test against Australia, will be recalled to the team for the two World Series Cup matches against the West Indies and Australia which will be played before the Second Test. With regular opener Chandika Haturusinghe failing to impress in the first Test, Jayasuriya has a good chance of playing in the second Test if he performs well in the two limited over games.

Sri Lanka returns to WSC cricket after many years

Sri Lanka will return to the 1995/96 World Series Cup Triangular tournament on Friday after a lapse of many years. Sri Lanka could not make use of the last chance to figure in the WSC as South Africa were included and the local team were compensated. Sri Lanka, West Indies and the hosts Australia will take part in the tournament. The Lankan team will open their campaign against West Indies at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide on December 15. The Lankan team will play eight preliminary round matches in the three-nation tournament - four each against Australia and West Indies.

Sebs lead in Sara trophy standings

Sebastianites CC leads in the latest points table of the Sara Trophy inter-club premier league tournament, conducted by the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka. In the latest division 1 segment `A` points table, Sebastianites have gained 45.6 points with two outright wins in four matches. In the second place is NCC (43.5 points), followed by Bloomfied (42.6), Galle CC (42.4) and SSC (39.2).
