Sri Lanka team's return delayed
The players were booked on Emirates Airlines for the return journey, from London via Dubai, but the airline has since pulled out of Sri Lanka
The Sri Lankan team's return has been delayed after their scheduled flight back home from London was cancelled following Tamil Tiger rebel air raids in Colombo. The squad was returning from the West Indies, where they lost to Australia in the World Cup final.
They are now due at 0740 local time (0210 GMT) on Thursday, May 3, aboard Qatar Airways. The welcome party will go ahead as planned with a parade from the airport and reception at Independence Square.
The players were booked on Emirates Airlines for the return journey, from London via Dubai, but the airline has since stopped operations in Sri Lanka.
Emirates and Cathay Pacific indefinitely suspended their flights to Sri Lanka following Sunday's air raids by Tamil Tigers near Colombo's international airport, when two light aircraft were used to bomb nearby fuel depots.
Singapore Airlines said it would only fly into the Bandaranaike International Airport - which shares a runway with the Sri Lankan air force - during daylight hours.
