Karachi, Feb 6: The Sri Lankan cricketers arrived in the early hours of Monday on a six-week tour of Pakistan. Flamboyant opener Sanath Jayasuriya is leading the team while promising middle-order batsman Mahela Jayawardene is his deputy.

Sri Lanka-born former Australian batsman Dav Whatmore is the coach. The team was earlier scheduled to arrive in Karachi at 11:30am but their arrival was delayed for more than 12 hours.

Sri Lanka will hold a day-long training session at the National Stadium on Monday morning. They open the tour with a warm up match against Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) eleven at the United Bank Sports Complex on Tuesday.

The series begins on Sunday with a one-day international here at the National Staidum.

The Test series between the two countries begins at Rawalpindi from Feb 26.
