Srivastava reprimanded for disciplinary breach

India Under-19 allrounder Tanmay Srivastava has been reprimanded by match referee Chris Broad for giving an aggressive send-off to New Zealand batsman Corey Anderson after dismissing him in the semi-final of the U-19 World Cup.

He was charged under Level 1.6 of the Code of Conduct which deals with "pointing or gesturing towards the pavilion in an aggressive manner by a bowler or other member of the fielding side upon the dismissal of a batsman".

Srivastava, who was reported by on-field officials Peter Hartley and Marais Erasmus, and third umpire Enamul Haque, pleaded guilty to the charge. For Level 1 offences, there is no right of appeal and the referee's decision is final.

"This is Tanmay's first offence under the ICC Code of Conduct and as such I am happy with giving him an official reprimand," Broad said, explaining his decision. "He needs to remember that this sort of behaviour is unacceptable from any player in the game no matter what his age and no matter what the circumstance."

India prevailed over New Zealand with a tense three-wicket win to book their place in the final.
