Nine members of Australia's one-day squad will ensure a high-quality domestic fixture at the SCG as a handful of players battle for Test spots. New South Wales will host Queensland from Friday but the contest represents more than an opportunity for six points and is the last chance for Phil Jaques, Stuart MacGill and Mitchell Johnson to confirm their spots at the Gabba.
The Blues welcome back Brett Lee, Michael Clarke, Stuart Clark, Nathan Bracken and Brad Haddin, who toured India with the limited-overs team, while Queensland will rely on Johnson, Matthew Hayden, Andrew Symonds and James Hopes. Australia's selectors will name the squad next week for the first Test against Sri Lanka in Brisbane on November 8.
New South Wales squad Phil Jaques, Ed Cowan, Simon Katich (capt), Michael Clarke, Dominic Thornely, Brad Haddin (wk), Grant Lambert, Brett Lee, Nathan Bracken, Beau Casson, Stuart Clark, Stuart MacGill.
Queensland squad Matthew Hayden, Ryan Broad, Clinton Perren, Jimmy Maher (capt), Andrew Symonds, James Hopes, Chris Hartley (wk), Chris Simpson, Ashley Noffke, Mitchell Johnson, Daniel Doran, Grant Sullivan.
