State Canterbury Wizards State Championship team named

The Canterbury Cricket selectors have announced the State Canterbury Wizards team to play the State Wellington Firebirds in a State Championship four-day match starting on Thursday, February 13 at the Basin Reserve, Wellington.

Making his return to first-class cricket after injury is pace bowler Warren Wisneski, who replaces Englishman Paul Franks.

"Warren has returned to full fitness and we are pleased to have his experience back in the side after a lengthy break," convener of selectors Craig Thiele commented.

Canterbury A batsman Neil Broom has been called into the squad after solid performances during the Provincial A tournament and is set to make his first-class debut if he takes the field. Broom replaces the out-of-form Shanan Stewart.

An exciting prospect and technically sound, Broom offers strength in the batting and a lively attitude in the field, Thiele said.
