Australian captain Stephen Waugh is receiving treatment for a skin infection - cellulitis - around his right elbow.
Waugh grazed the elbow during the second Carlton and United Series final against Pakistan at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday 4 February, but only became troubled by the graze the following Tuesday.
After attending the opening of a new pavilion named after himself and his brother Mark at Bankstown in Sydney, he saw a specialist who diagnosed cellulitis. As a result, Stephen is receiving antibiotic treatment in hospital.
It is expected he will be discharged over the next 24 hours or so and the condition should not affect his availability for the Coca-Cola Australian Tour of New Zealand 2000, which begins on Monday 14 February.
Waugh was equally upbeat, adding: "It's just a precaution and I'm feeling better already. I'll be back to normal in the next day or so."
Waugh will lead Australia in six one-day internationals and three Test matches on the tour. The first one-day international is due to take place in Wellington on Wednesday 16 February.
