Steven Smith's terrific save

This IPL has had some shockers in the field but, on the other end of the spectrum, are stupendous saves on the boundary, like Steven Smith’s against Kolkata Knight Riders. When Yusuf Pathan launched Murali Kartik down to wide long-on, Smith ran to his right, running perilously close to the boundary’s edge. The ball looked like it would clear the rope, but Smith leapt and caught it in mid air. On realising his momentum was taking him over the boundary, Smith had the presence of mind to fling the ball back to the field of play while still in mid air. He saved four runs (the batsmen ran two). For a composite shot of Smith's save, click here.
