It was not only the perpetually fickle Caribbean weather that posed a question mark prior to the third Test at St Kitts. There was also the threat of industrial action by the players' association over the issue of central contracts. Brian Lara, however, sounded optimistic about the situation saying that the board and the players were capable of amicably resolving the issue. "As far as I am concerned, there's a Test match charted for 22nd of June, that's tomorrow, and that is what we're preparing ourselves for," he told the media on the eve on the match. He also spoke, among other things, about how he has unfortunately not had his say where the inclusion of a specialist spinner or the preparation of the pitch were concerned.
