Former Zimbabwe captain Heath Streak said that he had not ruled out playing for Zimbabwe again, but admitted that chances of him donning the Zimbabwe colours continue to dwindle.
In an interview just before he and his Warwickshire departed for West Indies for a two-week pre-season camp, Streak said he has spent more time concentrating on his Warwickshire career and has not had time to think about Zimbabwe. "I have certainly not written off playing for Zimbabwe again but the more time I am out it is going to be difficult for me to return," he said.
Streak, who joined Warwickshire in 2004 and helped them to the title that season, is setting his sights on getting an extension to his contract with the Bears which will be determined by his performance. He finished as the leading wicket taker for Warwickshire with 40 wickets to his credit. "I ended off well last season well so I hope I can continue with that and get my contract extended to next season."
Streak's return is also unlikely until he is paid more than US$100,000 which is owed to him and which the cash-strapped Zimbabwe board has constantly refused to pay.
