Leicestershire 198 drew with Middlesex 201 and 142-5 dec.
Scorecard
Leicestershire collected seven points and Middlesex eight as the game petered out to an inevitable draw. Jeremy Snape scored his first fifty for Leicestershire, and David Brignull finished with 46 in their 198 all out. Middlesex then reached 142 for 5, Ben Hutton top-scoring with 41 not out.
Sussex 619-7 dec and 52-0 beat Nottinghamshire 421 and 247 by 10 wickets
Scorecard
Mushtaq Ahmed took his season's first-class wicket tally to 28 with another impressive display in Sussex's 10-wicket win against Notts. Mushtaq claimed 6 for 81 as Notts crashed from 103 for 0 to 247 all out. England's reject, James Kirtley, took the other four wickets to fall, and set the tone for the day when he had Darren Bicknell caught and bowled before any runs had been added. Chris Read (42) and Steve Elworthy (45) provided some resistance, but Sussex required only 50 runs in their second innings, and it took Murray Goodwin and Richard Montgomerie just over 10 overs to get there. Sussex jump from seventh from third in the table.
Warwickshire 311 and 124-2 drew with Kent 376
Scorecard
With the captains unable to agree on suitable declarations, this game was only heading one way - a bore draw. However, Kent's Matthew Walker took the opportunity to have an extended net with a stubborn 106 as Kent drifted to 376 all out, with Dougie Brown taking 5 for 72. Warwickshire then had 30 overs to have some fun in which time Mark Wagh cracked a quickfire 50 not out.

Durham 317 & 149 beat Derbyshire 244 & 192 by 30 runs
Scorecard
Dewald Pretorius helped Durham to a narrow win against Derbyshire - a much-needed first victory of the season. At the start of the day, which was frequently interrupted by rain-breaks, Derbyshire required 84 runs with four wickets left and all eyes were on Dominic Cork who was well set on 48 not out. But the chances of a Derbyshire win were soon dashed when he fell for 52 to Pretorius after the other overnight batsman, Kevin Dean, was also out - caught off Nicky Phillips for 1. Graeme Welch did his best to keep the challenge alive with 23 not out, but Pretorius wrapped things up with the last two wickets of Mohammad Ali and Lian Wharton. Durham gratefully collected 20 points, enough to take them off the bottom of the table, and they wish they could play Derbyshire every week - their last championship win, last July, was against them too.
Somerset 308 & 128-4 beat Hampshire 129 & 306
by 4 wickets
Scorecard
Hampshire were left to regret a hopeless first-innings performance, as Somerset leaped past Gloucestershire to go top of the table with a six-wicket victory at the Rose Bowl. After following-on, Hampshire's one hope of salvation had lain with Derek Kenway, but he was caught behind without adding to his overnight 94, and only a pair of cameos from Chris Tremlett and Shaun Udal enabled Hampshire to set a nominal target of 128. Somerset did their best to make a meal of it, slumping to 59 for 4 as Dmitri Mascarenhas and James Bruce picked up two wickets each. But Ian Blackwell and James Bryant eased them to victory inside 40 overs.
Worcestershire 175 & 212 beat Gloucestershire 178 & 98 by 111 runs
Scorecard
Kabir Ali stormed Worcestershire to an unexpected and exciting win against Gloucestershire at New Road - their first of the season. Worcestershire were up against it before play at 95 for 5, but Anurag Singh got them back on track by carrying his bat to 83 not out as Worcestershire recovered to 212 all out. Set 210, Gloucestershire immediately came unstuck against the Worcestershire attack as Nantie Hayward made a couple of early breakthroughs. Andrew Hall then disposed the middle-order, leaving the way for Ali to take the last three wickets as Gloucestershire were skittled for a miserable 98 all out. The win moves Worcestershire up to fifth, while Gloucestershire slip down to second.
Yorkshire 209 & 159-1 dec drew with Glamorgan 315
Scorecard
Glamorgan's Mark Wallace narrowly missed out on what would have been his second first-class century as their game against Yorkshire ended in a draw. Wallace's innings, which included eight fours and two sixes, was one of the few highlights in a drab final day's play. Glamorgan were all out for 315, and then Matthew Wood scored 73 not out before he declared Yorkshire's second-innings on 159 for 1. Glamorgan picked up 10 points, while Yorkshire were deducted a quarter of their eight points for a slow over-rate.
