The HKCA will welcome the Taipan Cricket Club to the Hong Kong cricket family when its team makes its debut in the 2010-11 HKCA Saturday League. Taipan CC's first league match will be against HKCC Gap Ramblers at the Kai Tak Cricket Ground on 18th September 2010. Taipan CC's Team Captain for 2010-11 is Romy Singh.
Taipan CC was founded in 2005 and in its early years the club played cricket in the Challenge League competitions, finishing third in its first year. It went one better the next season and in 2008-09, Taipan CC claimed its first Challenge League title.
Representative teams from Taipan CC have also toured overseas and the club participated in the Invitational Cricket Sixes competitions in Phuket (2006) and The Philippines (2008), where they won the Plate competition.
When submitting his team's proposal to join the HKCA Saturday League, Team Captain Romy Singh said "We play good and aggressive cricket and even though we have achieved the top spot (in the Challenge League), our goal is to be on the top in the HKCA Challenge League and compete with the best in the HKCA Saturday League."
He added, "Our team is not only about grown-ups wanting to play cricket, it's also about young players who do not get enough chances in top teams and also those young players who look to play HKCA Saturday League but can not find a place. Our team will not only give a good platform and opportunity to young players but it will also hone their skills by playing regular cricket all year around and represent the national team in their near future."
