His signing for the NatWest Blast was only confirmed last week and he made his first appearance against Kent on Sunday. He scored 7 before being bowled by Adam Milne in a seven-wicket defeat.
A brief Essex statement said: "We wish him all the best and it would be appreciated if Tamim's privacy is respected during this time."
