Gayle's greatest, Raina's counterattack, and a Miller blitz
To kick off our countdown to the tenth IPL, a look at ten memorable innings from the tournament's history

Chris Gayle - 175 off 66 balls, Royal Challengers v Pune Warriors, IPL 2013
Gayle's innings remains the format's highest score and fastest hundred to date, apart from having rewritten a number of other records that have not been broken since. His innings powered Royal Challengers to a comfortable 130-run win, after they put up 263 for 5, the joint-highest score in T20 history.
Suresh Raina - 87 off 25 balls, Super Kings v Kings XI, 2nd playoff, IPL 2014
The value of Raina's innings is amplified when you consider that it came in a knock-out fixture, while chasing a massive 227. While his strike rate of 348 remains the highest for all 50-plus scores in IPL history, it wasn't enough to take Super Kings to their sixth final in seven seasons.
Virat Kohli - 108 off 58 balls, Royal Challengers v Rising Pune Supergiants, IPL 2016
Kohli's hundred made light work of Pune's total of 191, during which he became the fastest to reach 500 runs in an IPL season. With Gayle dropped after a string of low scores and AB de Villiers falling cheaply on the day, Kohli's unbeaten knock ensured Royal Challengers were always in cruise control.
Adam Gilchrist - 85 off 35 balls, Chargers v Daredevils, semi-final, IPL 2009
Gilchrist lived up to his promise of reviving his side after their wooden-spoon finish in the inaugural season, with a virtuoso innings in a knock-out game that reduced a tricky chase of 154 to a no-contest. By the time he departed with the score at 102 in the 10th over, the result was all but a formality.
David Miller - 101 off 38 balls, Kings XI v Royal Challengers, IPL 2013
After much promise in his first two seasons, Miller finally announced himself with a match-winning innings in a must-win game for Kings XI. Coming in with 140 to get in a little over 12 overs, he bided his time before launching into the Royal Challengers attack, smashing 74 runs off his last 20 balls to take his side to a comfortable victory with two overs to spare.
Manvinder Bisla - 89 off 48 balls, Knight Riders v Super Kings, final, IPL 2012
Super Kings, who were just one step away from a hat-trick of IPL titles, put up a massive 190 batting first on their home ground. Bisla's blitz at the top of the order ensured Kolkata Knight Rider were always on track and put an end to the home side's dominance in the tournament.
MS Dhoni - 54 off 29 balls, Super Kings v Kings XI, IPL 2010
Super Kings' inconsistent form leading to their final league game left them chasing 192 to qualify for the semi-finals. After Raina and S Badrinath set up the chase with a 62-run stand, Dhoni's late assault, which included two towering sixes into the Dharamsala sky, ensured his side were home with two balls to spare. For a man who had won a World Cup, Dhoni admitted to feeling "emotional" after taking his side to the last four.
M Vijay - 95 off 52 balls, Super Kings v Royal Challengers, final, IPL 2011
Coming into the final without having converted any of his starts in the league phase, Vijay reserved his best for the biggest game of the tournament. His 159-run partnership with Mike Hussey, which is still the highest in an IPL final, all but put Royal Challengers out of the game and ensured Super Kings' successful title defence.
Brendon McCullum - 158 off 73 balls, Knight Riders v Royal Challengers, IPL 2008
Some of McCullum's achievements in the first ever IPL game were so ahead of their times that they have not been surpassed since. While the rest of his side scored at barely a run-a-ball, he went at a strike rate of 216. His boundary count of 23 exceeded the number scored by all the other batsmen across both sides and his score itself has been eclipsed just once in nine IPL seasons.
Kevin Pietersen - 103 off 64 balls, Daredevils v Chargers, IPL 2012
Pietersen's innings was one of those which single-handedly dragged his side to victory while facing a tricky chase. With the rest of the top order falling cheaply (the next highest score was 23), Pietersen's counterattack ensured Deccan Chargers were never in the game, taking him to his maiden T20 hundred and putting Daredevils at the top of the IPL table.
