The hearing was convened by Denness after viewing video footage from Sunday's third day which allegedly showed Tendulkar attempting to alter the condition of the ball. Another Indian batsmen, Virender Sehwag, was also required to attend the hearing.

The hearing was held at 8.30am on Monday morning before drizzle prevented play starting on time. The match, however, was expected to resume at 11 a.m local time.
