South Africa Seam bowler David Terbrugge failed his fitness test yesterday and is a doubtful starter for the 2nd test match against the West Indies which starts tomorrow. Terbrugge strained a side muscle during the 1st test, and the SA team management requested that his provinical side, Gauteng, rest him last weekend as a precaution.
Team physiotherapist Craig Smith pronounced Terbrugge "only 80 percent fit". Captain Hansie Cronje added "if he is not completely fit he will not play."
No replacement has been announced. Lance Klusener, whose own fitness is still not certain, or Makhaya Ntini are the most likely candidates.
