The millions earned and lost

212.35 - Rupees in crores spent in the auction today. Delhi Daredevils, the only team not to retain any players ahead of the auction, spent Rs. 51.40 crore, nearly one-fourth of the total money spent.

70 - Number of players sold in the auction. Delhi Daredevils led this list too, buying 13 players including the prize catches of Kevin Pietersen and Quinton de Kock.

14 - Rupees in crores that Royal Challengers Bangalore paid for Yuvraj Singh - the highest winning bid in today's auction. Wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik was the next highest in this list with Daredevils shelling out Rs. 12.5 crore for him.

5 - Number of players that attracted bid prices of over a million dollars - Yuvraj, Karthik, Pietersen, Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Johnson.

8.5 - Number of times his base price that Kolkata Knight Riders paid for Piyush Chawla - the highest multiple earned by any player in the auction. Yuvraj was next in this list, going at 7 times his base price.

146 - Number of capped players who went unsold today. These included 18 India players and 128 overseas players. There were few takers for India fast bowlers with ten out of 22, including Praveen Kumar, RP Singh and Munaf Patel, going unsold.

2 - Overseas spinners bought, out of a total of 19 on auction today. Only Muttiah Muralitharan - bought by Royal Challengers - and Samuel Badree - a bargain at Rs. 30 lakh for Chennai Super Kings - found takers.

8 - Right-to-match cards used by teams today, with Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad using the two cards that were available to them. There are five more cards left, two with Daredevils and one each with Kings XI Punjab, Royal Challengers and Rajasthan Royals.

5 - Number of India players who saw their prices fall by a million dollars or more since the 2011 auction. Virender Sehwag's was the most glaring pay cut of the five. The Pathan brothers, Irfan and Yusuf, suffered pay cuts of approximately USD 1.5 million each. The others were Saurabh Tiwary and Robin Uthappa.

62.15 - Purse remaining in crores of Rupees among the teams. Teams have to buy at least 34 more players to make up a minimum of 16 players per team. They have spent Rs 417.85 crore on buying or retaining 94 players so far. Royal Challengers are the team with the least money remaining. They only have Rs. 1.8 crore and they still need four more players to complete their squad.
