Michael Thornely has signed a two-year deal with Sussex. Thornely, the 19-year-old batsman, scored 800 runs in the Second XI Championship this season.
Their manager Mark Robinson said: "What has impressed us most is that he has grown in stature as a person as well as a player. If he continues this rate of improvement he will have a very bright future with the club."
Thornely, who is developing his game further this winter in Perth, Australia said: " I am delighted to be staying at Sussex. The team and coaching staff are very supportive of their young players and I am looking forward to giving back as much as I can to the club over the next two seasons."
