The official tournament website for the 2006 ICC East Asia - Pacific (EAP) Cricket Trophy was launched today as teams have arrived in readiness for tomorrow's first match. The tournament will be held in Brisbane, Australia from 27 June to 2 July 2006 and is the region's major men's cricket event for the year.
This World Cricket League event will see Cook Islands, Fiji and Japan battle it out for honours over seven action-packed days. The winner will take a step closer to the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup by qualifying for the World Cricket League Division 3 in 2007.
The website can be found at the ICC East Asia - Pacific website at www.icc-eap-cricket.com and following the banner link to the site. The site will be updated regularly during matches and will be the one stop shop for all of the tournament's news, scores, results, photos, individual player performances and competition ladders.
"The dedicated site will carry all of the current information and statistics for the tournament" reports Tournament Director Martin Gleeson "Results will be updated at regular intervals and our cricket supporters throughout the region and afar will be able to keep a close eye on proceedings as the tournament progresses."
The 2006 EAP Cricket Trophy commences with Japan shaping up against Fiji at Peter Burge Oval, Wellington Point on Tuesday 27 June and concludes with Japan playing Cook Islands at the same venue on Sunday 2 July.
