24 Test wins for Alastair Cook as captain, from 59 matches. He is the joint second-most successful captain for England in terms of Test wins, behind Michael Vaughan, who had 26. Incidentally, Cook's 22 defeats is also the most for an England captain.

5 Number of batsmen who have scored more Test runs as captain than Cook. Cook scored 4844 runs at 46.57 from 111 innings. However, Cook leads the charts in terms of most runs, hundreds and fifties by an England captain.

16 Test wins for Cook at home from 28 matches, the joint third-highest among England captains. Only Andrew Strauss (19) and Vaughan (17) have more wins than Cook, while Peter May also has 16. Cook, though, is the only England captain in the last 35 years to win two Ashes series at home.

6 Test centuries for Cook in Asia, the most by any visiting captain. Cook is also the second-highest run-getter among all visiting captains in the subcontinent: he has scored 1362 runs at 56.75 with six centuries from 26 innings.

He is one of five England captains to score three hundreds in a single series, and the second after Graham Gooch, against India in 1990, to do so in fewer than five Tests. Cook scored 562 runs at 80.28 to help England beat India in India for the first time in 28 years.

Cook, who averages more than 50 as captain against Bangladesh, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and West Indies, is the only one to achieve this. Ricky Ponting, Angelo Mathews, Allan Border and Misbah-ul-Haq average more than 50 against four opponents.

5 Hundreds scored by Cook in his first five Tests as captain; no other captain has achieved this feat. Cook made 173 and 109 not out against Bangladesh in 2009-10, followed by 176, 122 and 190 against India in 2012-13.
