The trial of the former Zimbabwe opening batsman, Mark Vermeulen, was postponed indefinitely on Wednesday.
His lawyer, Eric Matinenga said, without elaborating: "The case was supposed to be heard today, but nothing happened because there are some negotiations taking place between us, the state and other people, maybe within two weeks there will be something out of this."
The 28-year-old Vermeulen, who played the last of his eight Test matches in 2004, is accused of setting fire to Zimbabwe Cricket's boardroom and training academy at the Harare Sports Club last October.
He admitted to carrying out the attacks but has pleaded not guilty on the grounds of diminished responsibility. If convicted Vermeulen faces a possible 25 years in prison with hard labour.
