Former India skipper, manager and chairman of the national selection committee Ajit Wadekar has only one regret on being born on 1st April of 1941

Former India skipper, manager and chairman of the national selection committee Ajit Wadekar has only one regret on being born on 1st April of 1941. "Instead of me fooling others on this day, people try to fool me". Wadekar has a few juicy stories for this special day, and has promised to narrate the same some day.

He didn't wish to celebrate his birthday on Saturday by going to some party. He preferred to remain in the house. "I am not keeping well. I am having a high fever and virus infection. The family doctor has advised me to take some rest so the singing and dancing will be in my home this year" Wadekar told this correspondent on Saturday.

Wadekar celebrated his birthday with wife Rekha, two sons, their wives daughter Kashmira and their pet Alsatian dog by staying in their home facing the sea at Worli. Wadekar takes his dog along with him for his morning walk every day. His elder son is working for ICICI and the second son is studying engineering. Daughter Kashmira is a commerce student in a leading city college. Wadekar who himself was good in mathematics during his college days, is now a director of the State Bank of India's subsidiary organisation.

A leading daily eveninger in the city came up with a good gimmick by publishing a story on Sourav Ganguly. "Sourav is sacked in midnight coup. Azhar recalled as India skipper" went the heading. The tabloid tried to fool readers by saying Ganguly was stripped of the captaincy by the BCCI president AC Muthiah following his outspoken remarks on the players' recent performance. Of course it turned out to be an April Fool joke.
