Warne on top of the LG ICC Test Player Rankings

Shane Warne has returned to the top of the LG ICC Test Bowling Rankings for the first time in ten years

Shane Warne has returned to the top of the LG ICC Test Bowling Rankings for the first time in ten years. Warne's match return of five wickets for 49 runs in the first Test in Brisbane lifted him above Glenn McGrath to cap his best year in Test cricket for a decade.

Warne, who last topped the Test bowling rankings in December 1995 after a man-of-the-series performance against Pakistan, is also just six points off his best ever batting rating.

Ricky Ponting's two centuries have helped him to close the gap behind Jacques Kallis to just three points in the batting rankings, while Adam Gilchrist has moved up a place and back into the top ten.

With all the leading West Indies batsmen losing points, the most positive news for them is the rise of Corey Collymore, whose four first-inning wickets helped him to climb seven places to 23rd in the bowling rankings, the best placing of his career.
