Shane Warne became the leading wicket taker for Australia in Test cricket when he dismissed Paul Wiseman in the second innings of New Zealand in the Auckland Test. This was his 356th victim. Lillee's record had stood at 355 wickets since his retirement in 1983-84,but it has been a long haul for Warne who has needed 12 more Test appearances than Lillee to overtake his total.
