Warwickshire County Cricket Club has announced the appointment of Colin Bovey, a former head of Carlsberg UK, as the successor to Dennis Amiss as chief executive of the club.
Amiss, a life-long servant to Warwickshire as player and administrator, is due to stand down in April after more than a decade in charge. Ian Metcalfe, Warwickshire's vice-chairman, who was responsible for the recruitment process, said: "Dennis leaves an enormous and valuable legacy."
Of Povey's appointment, Melcalfe added: "I am delighted to announce that in the appointment of Colin we have secured an exceptionally talented individual who has the experience and skills to both build on our current position and ensure we continue to be one of the most successful clubs in the country."
A passionate sports enthusiast, Povey has most notably achieved numerous international and domestic honours in water polo. He captained England and played and coached for the Great Britain team.
Commenting on his appointment, Povey said: "Following a successful career in industry and a deep-rooted belief in the importance of sport, I am delighted to have been presented with the opportunity to take Warwickshire on to the next stage of its development.
"I see success on the field as being equally important as the commercial success of Edgbaston as a whole. One can't prosper without the other, but the management team has already ensured that there is a very solid foundation in place."
