Warwickshire line up Waqar as Bond's cover

Warwickshire are reported to have Pakistan fast bowler Waqar Younis lined up as a replacement overseas player if it turns out that New Zealand's Shane Bond is unable to fulfil his obligations.

Bond was due to join the county at the end of the Bank Alfalah Cup next week, but he suffered a back injury and has returned to New Zealand for tests to ascertain the seriousness of the problem.

Warwickshire have refused to comment until Bond's position is clarified, something they hope will happen within the next two or three days.
