Zimbabwe and West Indies play the second of five one-day internationals in Harare on Sunday and, contrary to popular expectation; it's Zimbabwe who have the lead after a comprehensive 30-run victory on Friday.

Before their five-ODI tour of Zimbabwe began, Chris Gayle, the West Indian captain, wrote in the Trinidad Express that "we must not take Zimbabwe for granted" and warned against complacency while playing against a home side with nothing to lose. On evidence of the events that transpired in the first ODI in Harare, West Indies' body language exuded a lack of intensity and Zimbabwe duly capitalized against their lacklustre opponents to record their first win against a major Test-playing team in four years.

Both teams are going through new phases; West Indies have a new captain in Gayle, and Zimbabwe are under a new coach Robin Brown, took over from Kevin Curran before the World Twenty20 in South Africa.

The West Indian batsmen will need to rally around their one reliable batsman, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who scored an unbeaten century in the first game but received almost no support from anyone else. Gayle, who was dismissed for 2 on Friday and was unable to lift his team, will be under pressure that could play on even his coolest of nerves.

Zimbabwe, on the other hand, will have to prove that the first victory wasn't a fluke and that they can sustain form throughout the course of the series. Several of their batsmen got off to starts and the next step will be to buckle down and register a century.
