Westermann stands down in September
Maarten Westermann, the head of the Netherlands board, will not look to renew his contract when it expires at the end of September
Maarten Westermann, the head of the Netherlands board (KNCB), will not look to renew his contract when it expires at the end of September, according to Cricket Europe.
"Much has changed in two years," Westermann wrote to the board informing them of his decision. "New impulses have been given to Dutch cricket, with for example the Nachenius Tjeenk Twenty20 Cup, the play-off's for the national championship, and the Cricket Congress. All in all important steps have been taken in the professionalisation of the KNCB."
Board chairman Marc Asselbergs said that while he would have liked Westermann to continue, he understood the reasons for his decision. "The vacancy gives us the opportunity to appoint someone to carry on his work and to bring it to an even higher level," he told Cricket Europe. "We intend to make full use of the available time to make the appointment with complete transparency."
