What is this man's game plan?

Having opened an enormous can of ugly and repellent worms, Manoj Prabhakar seems to be under the impression that he can just run away like a truant schoolboy without helping to stuff 'em all back in and ram the lid on them

Having opened an enormous can of ugly and repellent worms, Manoj Prabhakar seems to be under the impression that he can just run away like a truant schoolboy without helping to stuff 'em all back in and ram the lid on them. He should know that with the public getting emotionally involved, they're going to ask for nothing less than his head if he continues to blow hot and cold without producing anything that can stand up before a court of law.

It is baffling why Prabhakar should blab Kapil's name to people like former BCCI president IS Bindra and Union Home minister LK Advani but not to the proper legal authorities and just goes to show that the man is upto no good. He had the opportunity to divulge the secret in confidence to Chandrachud and refused on the grounds that he feared for his life. When Chandrachud then promised to honour his confidence, Prabhakar rapidly shifted gear, holding that he is afraid he would be 'sued or persecuted for defamation'. "I have no evidence to prove my statements. There will be my word against their word. The prosecution or the suit will ruin me totally", he said.

By his own admission this is a man who has no evidence to prove anything. Just how the situation has changed since then for him to bandy Kapil's name about is beyond comprehension. Prabhakar also claimed that "At the time in question, when the incident had occurred, I had informed the concerned persons and had then been told that I should play my game and that they would do the needful." But when Chandrachud coaxed him to say just who these concerned persons were, Prabhakar again clammed up with the absurd plea that his life was in danger!

With the central character in the episode remaining a silent spectator, neither accepting nor denying Bindra's allegation and the subsequent remark by Advani, the game is being brought into further disrepute. Having said time and again that he would bring the guilty to book, Prabhakar has failed to blow the whistle. The earlier he clears the air, the better, both for his own credibility and the rapidly eroding faith of the fans in their heroes.

There have been reports that, tired of the cat and mouse game, the CBI is gearing up to formally summon him in the next couple of days. It would seem to be a waste of time for the CBI to talk to a confirmed charlatan like Prabhakar. Having clamoured for security, he is now traipsing all over the country without any fear, ostensibly on business, surfacing at last call in Baroda to invite Jaywant Lele for the launch of a product by his cosmetics company. The government complains not unreasonably about their inability to provide security to someone whom they cannot find. Will Prabhakar now summon the courage to fight Kapil in the open instead of hiding behind the coat tails of stooges like Bindra?
