SHARJAH, Sunday - Sri Lanka coach Dave Whatmore said he is not permitted to speak to the press but will disclose his side of the story in a book which will be published before the Christmas, the `Gulf News` reported on Sunday.
The newspaper quoted Whatmore`s speech at a dinner hosted at the Royal Abjar hotel in Dubai on Friday.
Whatmore was quoted as saying that he cannot disclose anything to press at present. "Ask the Sri Lankan Cricket Board on what went wrong?" questioned Whatmore.
In a lead story title `What more do they want` in the Gulf News, skipper Arjuna Ranatunga has said that he has not encountered any problems with his coach.
"If he wants to quit and coach Lancashire he can do that. There is no political involvement, I can assure you that,`` the newspaper quoted Ranatunga as saying.
Sri Lanka is to get another Australian national to replace Dave Whatmore who ends his two-year contract with the Sri Lanka Cricket Board after the current Sharjah tour, the `Gulf News` reported on Sunday.
The `Gulf News` quoted Sri Lanka manager Duleep Mendis: "I have had a good rapport with Whatmore all the time. There will be a another Australian who will take Whatmore`s place from next year,`` Mendis has told the newspaper. But Mendis was tight lipped when asked who Whatmore`s successor is.
