Cameron White, who is only 23, has been appointed Victoria captain for his fourth season while Brad Hodge was named as his No. 2 for 2006-07. Both players will be desperate to impress this summer after falling out of national favour over the past year.
Hodge was dropped from the Test side despite averaging 58.42 in five matches while White lost his Cricket Australia contract in May. White has just returned from an English county season with Somerset, where he scored 1190 Championship runs at 59.50 with five centuries, but took only 15 wickets.
"It continues to be an enormous honour to captain Victoria," White said. "After a degree of success last season, I can't wait for this one to start. We've got a terrific core of experienced players in the squad and some real talent coming through the ranks. I'm sure we'll be a genuine title threat in each form of the game."
Victoria reached the final of the Pura Cup in 2005-06 and also collected the first domestic Twenty20 trophy. The Bushrangers' campaign begins on October 13 with a one-day match against Western Australia at the WACA.
