Why Woakes, Kerrigan were selected
Derek Pringle, writing in his column for the Telegraph, argues that Simon Kerrigan and Chris Woakes' selection were nothing to do with immediate strategy, or the fact that England are in the ascendency with a 3-0 lead, but rather that the selections were motivated with a view on the five Tests to be played down under, as a sort of contingency plan. Kerrigan, he offers, could also be used as an alternative to Monty Panesar, who has had to endure some on-field and off-field scrutiny.
