The West Indies Cricket Board's meeting to discuss the resignation letter handed in by Bruce Aanensen, the board's chief executive, has been postponed to Saturday. The meeting was earlier scheduled for Wednesday, August 22.

Aanensen, a Trinidadian banker who had taken up the position of chief executive in February this year, submitted a letter of resignation reportedly following disagreements with some of the decisions by Julian Hunte, the new president of the WICB.

Reports are that Aanensen had made it clear he was not happy with the appointment of West Indies Players Association chief Dinanath Ramnarine as a WICB director. On the heels of a public dispute with Ramanarine, sources had said Aanensen felt the decision undermined his ability to effectively manage the WICB operations.

However, Aanensen was said to be pushed to resign because of the decision by Hunte to work with WIPA to settle all outstanding issues including non-payment of World Cup earnings to players. Hunte had directed Aanensen to issue contracts to the players based on the World Cup arbitration ruling that payment be computed based on a tiered structure, but Aanensen cited legal problems if he complied.

In his resignation offer, Aanensen is said to have stated that he was between a rock and a hard place, facing dismissal if he refused the president's directive or legal problems if he went ahead and issued payments.
