Bangladesh v South Africa, 2015
Wisden's review of the second Test, Bangladesh v South Africa, 2015
At Mirpur, July 30-August 3, 2015. Drawn. Toss: Bangladesh. Test debut: D. J. Vilas.
Steyn became the 13th bowler to take 400 Test wickets on the first - and only - day's play, as Bangladesh reached 246 for eight on a bone-dry surface. That was a better score than it looked but, once again, everyone was left frustrated by the weather. Tamim Iqbal was the man to oblige Steyn, flashing at a wide, cross-seam delivery to provide Amla with a regulation head-high catch at first slip. Steyn was sporting a white headband to keep his long locks in place, making him appear more like Bjo¨ rn Borg, until he whipped it off to oblige the photographers. Rain meant the pitch had been under covers 48 hours
before the start, which was too late to water it or prepare it adequately. Bangladesh made a familiar glut of thirties and forties, though Mushfiqur Rahim was rewarded for his application and technique.
Man of the Match: Mushfiqur Rahim. Man of the Series: D. W. Steyn
