India v United Arab Emirates

Wisden's review of the ninth match, India v United Arab Emirates

At Mirpur, March 3, 2016 (floodlit). India won by nine wickets. ‡United Arab Emirates 81-9 (20 overs) (Shaiman Anwar 43); India 82-1 (10.1 overs) (R. G. Sharma 39). MoM: R. G. Sharma.
T20I debut: P. Negi (India). Nothing rested on this game, but as a test of India's bench strength it could hardly have gone better. Bhuvneshwar Kumar took the new ball, and did not concede a run until his third over; Harbhajan Singh was barely more expensive; debutant slow left-armer Pawan Negi took a wicket with his fifth delivery; and none of the six bowlers cost a run a ball. Relying heavily on Shaiman Anwar, the UAE dribbled to an inadequate 81. Sharma then made a quickfire 39 before Shikhar Dhawan and Yuvraj Singh completed a simple win. It was the end of the road for the UAE who, after dominating the qualifying group, failed to find the batting strength to trouble classier opposition.
